JOEY Lansdowne: Game-Day Headquarters at Lansdowne Park
On a match night at TD Place, the long central bar at JOEY Lansdowne is the loudest good decision in the neighbourhood. This is the JOEY built for events: an open-concept room that flows from kitchen to bar to high-top tables, a big seasonal patio facing the action, and a drinks program deep enough to carry a table from pre-game to post-mortem.
The Concept
JOEY has been refining premium-casual dining since 1992, when the first Joey Tomato’s opened in Calgary; the Vancouver-based group now runs rooms across Canada and the United States. The Lansdowne outpost translates that polish into a sports-adjacent setting without turning into a sports bar — the cocktails are still hand-built, the wine list still award-hunting, the service still drilled.
What to Order
Sharing plates rule the early evening: crab dip and truffle fries hit the table first, followed by sushi rolls, burgers or big salads for the undecided. Going full dinner? Lobster spaghetti, herb-crusted salmon and grilled steaks anchor the menu. The bar mixes proper cocktails and pours a long list of wines by the glass.
The Space
One continuous room with a long bar at its centre, high-tops around it and an open kitchen at the back — sightlines everywhere, energy contagious. The patio is the summer prize: big, buzzing and steps from the stadium and the Lansdowne lawns.
Who It’s For
Groups warming up before a game or a show at TD Place, after-work crews from the Glebe, and anyone who likes their dinner with a soundtrack of a good crowd.
Good to Know
Do I need a reservation? On event nights, absolutely — the room and patio fill hours before kickoff.
Is the patio open all year? It is seasonal — prime time runs from late spring through early fall.
Is it loud on weekends? Pleasantly so — this is a social room, not a whisper-quiet dining hall.
Can a group just drink and snack? Yes — the lounge and bar seats are made for shareables and cocktails.
What if we’re not going to the game? Come anyway — off-event nights are calmer and the kitchen runs the same menu.
